Game Designer
If ur dream is to stay up all night drinking liquid sugar, stuffing your face with pizza and playing games and still getting paid to do it, thn tis is the job for u!
In tis job, ur imagination is ur best weapon! While it's fun to do, it's also a lot of work! World of Warcraft didn't jus appear magically on a DVD! It took tim n effort mak it happen! Games r the fastest growing, biggest money making industry in the world! Do u hav wad it taks?
The Game Designer:
-Comes up with new ideas for the game
-Plans whr the action happens
-Designs the game universe n different game levels
-Leads a huge team of programmers, artists, animators, writers, musicians n actors to create tht knockout game!
To-Do List:
-U hav to noe wad's gd n bad out there!
-Dun jus dislik a game, figure out y u dun lik it.
-Wad kind if games do u wan to design? Adventure, tactical, shooting, there's so many types out there!
-Get familiar with programming. u dun hav to be n expert, but exprience helps!
-Lots of new games allow u to design ur own lvl, so tht's a great plc to start!
Even it u dun wan to be a Game Designer but lik to be involved in the game industry, there r lots of other jobs available! U can be the artist, animator, musician, or even the voice of the characters created!
Games need all tht n mor! Even stunt ppl n actors r used to mak the characters com alive so dun jus thk it's all about computers! There r loeads of other thgs u could do!
But if Game Designing is up ur alley, thn u hav to learn as much as u can abt programming, storytelling, art n even how to lead a team. But mos important of all is having fun!
Sure, it can be alot of wk, but sucess is sweet when u gt to see ur game selling lik hot cakes, n being on the most popular list!
TIP:
To gt a feel of designing games, try modding games! Modding means taking an existing game n modifying it! Modders do tis by either learning a programing language or using other tools available to create new levls, new looks, or even an entirely new game!
Lots of big games lik Half- life n Unreal hav tools provided tht allow u to create levels n games with the in-game "engine" . It really works! After all, Counterstrike was originally a Half-Life mod, n became one of the biggest game ever!
